Dragon Scale Gloves Crochet Pattern

Dragon Scale Gloves

Introduction

I had someone ask me if I could make them some Dragon Scale gloves.  The pattern they sent me was a paid one but I found a free one and then adapted it to what I wanted.  If you want to see the original pattern I adapted this from then click here.

  1. I am trying to make your gloves. You state to back post double crochet, but if i do that my scales are on the inside of my ring and not on the outside. So wouldn’t it be front post double crochet instead or do you flip them inside out? Just a little confused on your wording. Thanks

    1. You are inserting your hook under the back of the first post in the pair and then yarn over, pull through two, yarn over and pull through the last two. The double crochets should line up to the right of the post on the first post in the pair and the left of the second post. You have to turn your work to the side as you make the scales to get it to look right. I hope this helps.

  2. I’m trying to make the gloves but I get into trouble after the scales. In row 16 I have one chain space left after following the pattern. And I do have 37 stitches in the row bellow. What am I doing wrong?

    1. This pattern is extremely forgiving. As long as you have the correct number of stitches in the row roughly where they should go then it will still come out just fine. You can just toss in that extra stitch you need right at the beginning or end.

  3. Are the shells right side up as you work them? Mine are, Im now in
row 13 and it looks like I’m at the top of the glove but now I’m supposed to make a thumbhole?? I’m really confused.

    1. The pattern is worked from the top of the glove down. When you are making the scales you have to turn your work sideways to get the stitches to line up right. Basically you work down one DC post, turn it sideways, and work up the next DC post in the pair. The turn and swap from one post to the next is what makes the point of the scale.

  4. My glove looks upside down. The foundation row is going to show and the scales are going towards the wrist not the fingers. What have I done wrong? Definitely does not look like your picture at all. 🙁

  5. I apologize! I originally had the pattern say Front Post Double Crochet and someone told me I was wrong that it was called Back Post Double Crochet so I changed it. Someone else said that was wrong with another link to another video so I decided to consult Mikey haha. I had it right the first time and it was the Front Post Double Crochet. Again I apologize for the confusion and I hope this helps!

I am going to add a pdf printer friendly version available to purchase for $1.00 as well as create a video tutorial so I can show you hands on what to do. I’m not sure exactly how fast I will get it done but if you want to be alerted when I post the updates make sure to join my facebook groups, subscribe to my newsletter, or reply to this comment.
